"Every soul may find sanctuary..."

We highly recommend reading our brief Introduction, Tablets of the Divine Plan, Book 8 of the Ruhi Institute, and the following messages of the Universal House of Justice: 9 May 2020; Riḍván 2020 and 2021; 30 December 2021. This is a growing series on Queerness and the Divine Plan.

 

Summary

This series explores the Bahá’í Divine Plan, which was outlined in some of the revealed Writings of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and continues to this day in the form of a more recent series of Plans directed under the guidance of the Universal House of Justice, and extracts from them both the cultural changes that have occurred in spaces where the Bahá’í Cause has influence, as well as the current and new areas of endeavour underway that can be used to reduce prejudice against Queerness and Queer people.

 

Although each article was written as a continuation of the previous one, readers may skip articles depending on their familiarity with the topic. The series opens with an introduction to the Divine Plan for those without prior knowledge, followed by an overview of selected cultural advancements that are already taking place in communities in which the Plans have advanced significantly.  We then finish by commenting on the latest series of Plans, as described by the House of Justice in its 30 December 2021 message, and how Bahá’ís and their fellow protagonists can move forward with effective tools to combat Queer prejudice and create spaces in which Queer friends are made welcome.

 

Future articles in this series will include in-depth examinations of  particular aspects of the Plans from a Queer perspective, including the Ruhi Institute, core activities (children’s classes, junior youth groups, study circles, devotional gatherings), directly teaching the Bahá’í Faith, and more.
